Every clock jumps the same amount: 3:20→3:50→4:20→4:50 each add 30 min. So the rule is add 30 minutes each step.
Reading each clock and comparing tells you the steady 30-minute jump.

Add 30 min to 4:50: 50 + 30 = 80 min = 1 hour 20 min, so carry the hour to reach 5:20.
When the minutes pass 60 you carry one hour, just like carrying in place value.

Joining one more hour to the hours already on the clock makes a total that is exactly one hour greater.
Each clock jumps 30 minutes, and when minutes pass 60 you just bump up one hour: 4:50 + 30 = 5:20!
